It’s that post-Halloween, misty morning, grey skies and cold toes time but if you’re in London this week we might have some things to tempt you outdoors!

To celebrate her debut collection, poet and Yoniverse member Shareefa Energy will be launching at Rich Mix on Tuesday 5th November. There will be special guests and live musical accompaniment by Amrit Kaur Lohia.

A girl glides down Galaxy Walk to her grandmother’s home. The impact of patriarchy is unravelled. The unforgivable negligence of Grenfell and unsafe housing in Britain is exposed. In these poems that are at once raw and vulnerable, Shareefa explores hauntings of love, loss, and history as a working-class Indian woman raised in the diaspora.

A first for Burning Eye; the epic poem by Carmina Masoliver is available to buy from our web store. Circles is inspired by Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis. Taking the point of view of a suicide victim’s lover in the play post-death, the piece takes place on London’s tube network and follows the fragmented views of this once-absent character.

As well as launching the book last weekend at She Grrrowls, Carmina will be joining a star line-up at The Poetry Cafe on Thursday 7th November as part of a special Burning Eye Presents. She will be performing alongside Rebecca Tantony, Keith Jarrett and Etta Dia
