We are thrilled to launch the second edition of Desree’s debut pamphlet I Find My Strength in Simple Things today! Our first (of two) pamphlets for 2021, Desree’s incredible attributes as a spoken word performer lift this collection of poems into the golden spot that combines performance and the page in a harmonious combination that makes you wonder why there’s any debate about page vs stage at all.
Political, funny, heart-breaking, I Find My Strength In Simple Things is an exploration of growth, chaos and relationships. In homage to Desree’s spoken word performances, a majority of the poems are paired with QR codes, which link to films of the performances that made her. Desree invites us to care, explore and to find our strength with her, using thought-provoking one-liners and her incredible stage presence. I Find My Strength In Simple Things, will have you laughing and crying, as you are reminded the human experience is a messy one.
