This work was inspired and developed through the generous support of the Kevin Elyot Award at the University of Bristol Theatre Collection and features an interview with Ian Rickman, a peer and theatre producer. his fingers have left also includes a process section for writers to try their hand at an infamous Golden Shovel and other forms of technical poetry.
Who was Kevin Eylot? He was a British playwright, screenwriter and actor. His most notable works include the play My Night with Reg (1994) and the film Clapham Junction (2007). His stage work has been performed by leading theatre companies including the Royal Court, National Theatre, Bush Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Donmar Warehouse and in the West End. He finished his final play, Twilight Song, not long before he died in 2014, which received a posthumous premiere at London’s Park Theatre in 2017.
Deanna Rodger is a leading poet in the UK. Most recently, her reimagined version of ‘If’ was read by Serena Williams. She has been welcomed to perform and facilitate workshops all across the world incl.; Mexico, Sudan, and Beirut, and has been commissioned by institutions such as; FIFA, St Paul’s Cathedral, Young Vic, and BBC. She is a former UK Slam Poetry champion and represented the UK for poetry at the International Biennale, Rome 2011. She designs and delivers educational programs, and tutors at the School of Communication Arts and is a founding member of Keats House Poetry Forum and Chill Pill. Her collections I Did It Too and his fingers have left are both available through the indie publisher Burning Eye Books.
