It’s launch time! On Friday 15th April, Maz Hedgehog will be hosting a live launch of The Body and Its Seasons at one of Manchester’s iconic art spaces – HOME MCR!
Building on with its relationship with the Queer Artist Talking Circle, HOME are proud to be hosting the ‘Body in Its Season’ book launch with Maz Hedgehog. Listen to excerpts read by Maz with copies of the book being available to buy followed by a Q&A with the author and a book signing. The night will be hosted by BE poet and Jhalak Prize longlisted Afshan D’souza-Lodhi
Madeleine Ekezie has done everything right: good job, a step on the housing ladder, successful friends, but she is deeply lonely. When she discovers the story of The Body – a maybe mythical, definitely magical being who feeds the hungry and soothes the hurt – Maddy blows her life up to find it. The Body in Its Seasons is a journal of Maddy’s obsession, compiled in poetry, footnotes, conversations and diary entries.
Maz Hedgehog is a writer and performer working in the spaces between real and unreal, poetry and theatre, self and other. Their first book, Vivat Regina, won the Superbia Chapbook Prize and they’ve performed on stages and behind mics from Edinburgh to London. Fond of fairies and folklore, Maz’s work is imaginative, lyrical and occasionally a little surreal.
